I really can't think of too many MW fighters that pose much of a challenge for him. Maybe a guy like Lawler could get off a big KO punch, but I doubt it given that Franklin hits just as hard as Lawler, but couldn't do much. I don't see anything Lindland would do that Hendo can't.

Like it or not, he may be the most untouchable fighter ever, and I have never seen skills like this guy has.

Good luck to anyone facing him.

Silva has suggested that he might move up a weight class to the much more competitive 205 category. He seems to be almost bored at the 185 class. I think that he will still be an INCREDIBLE competitor at the next weight class, but might have trouble completely dominating it like he is currently doing to the 185 weight division.

Just my $0.02

I think Silva makes a mistake going to 205. I personally think that a GSP win over Serra makes GSP move up a wieght class to fight Silva. Huge money maker there!!!!!!

I think if he doesn't find new challenges soon, Silva may get bored at 185. We are already seeing it with his challenge to Roy Jones Jr.

I think a fight with GSP would be amazing, but I think there is longer lasting challenges at 205. If he moves up eventually, he would have to face fighters with tons of power that make a one punch KO more likely. Guys like Houston Alexander, James Irvin, Chuck Liddell, and Rampage all put Silva in a danger he hasn't dealt with before with their KO power.

I also think it would be interesting to see him against big, strong wrestlers at 205. As strange as it may sound, I think someone like Matt Hamill would be interesting because he could rip Silva off his feet with ease ...that is if he can withstand a few of Silva's punches.

I still think Silva is a danger to any of these fighters, though.

Is Anderson Silva really the best ever?

Yes, he is the best, possibly ever.

Right now it can be argued his current game is the best game to ever enter the cage. He is dismantling people who have never been dismantled. Even on his way up he beat Lee Murray's ass, which is absurd.

George St. Pierre would get absolutely annihilated. Probably as fast, if not faster than Chris Leben did. He isn't very good at handling punches, or fighting guys bigger than him. Silva has 5 inches on him in height.

It's debatable whether someone at 205 can beat him since he walks around at 210-215 in general.

Not only is he not losing, he's not even being hurt, or tested. Yeah, Dan took him down, and that's where it ended.

Re:Is Anderson Silva really the best ever?

I agree with David Weintraub that Silva may have the best game we have ever seen in this sport, and may end up as the best ever.

I don't necessarily think if he fought GSP it would be a blow-out, but I would give the advantage to Silva due to size and reach. I think GSP would be able to take him to the ground and work a better, more explosive ground game than any of the fighters SIlva has previously faced. If GSP got tagged when he shot in, though, it could be an early night for him.

I also think 205 has a lot of challenges, just given how lean Anderson Silva is compared with some of the thicker guys at that weight. There is a huge power difference between the two weight classes, and that could prove interesting. He could certainly compete, and probably be one of the best, but I think it would be more difficult for him.

But at his natural fighting weight, I don't think we have ever seen a fighter quite as dangerous as Silva. GSP comes close at 170, but he doesn't have the crushing stand-up that Silva has that can put an opponent down in the blink of an eye.

Is Anderson Silva really the best ever?

He is really good, and I like him. He beat the crap outta Franklin and I loved that. (he was way too cocky)

Anyway, Silva may be the best for now, but as MMA continues to evolve, there will continue to be better and better fighters.

It is virtually impossible to compare fighters from different time periods.

Try to compare Him to Ali, or Foreman, or whoever...The rules are different, the game is different, but they are all fighters.
You can say that the boxers dont compare, but if they had trained MMA what then?

Silva has awesome standup but Okami most likely won't win but will be his toughest opponent at middleweight. His fight with Irvin at 205, he should win but Irvin has a chance to KO him but I see Silva winning by KO. The only fighter thats not submission based to beat Silva is probably going to be Machida. You never know BJ might move up to welterweight then middleweight.

Is Anderson Silva really the best ever?

BJ Penn could not touch Silva. He has the talent, but mentally he is not in the same category as Silva. Silva has the never give up attitude and this is something that BJ has not been able to sustain long term. His commitment seems to come and go.

Machida,....*sigh* his style is so hard to beat, because he does not engage. If you call that impressive, then you are too easily impressed. I call it interesting and possible even smart. It is smart to be"elusive" as Joe Rogan calls it and watch your opponent for mistakes and capitalize on them. It is also a style that I am not impressed with.

Re:Is Anderson Silva really the best ever?

I love his style, quick in and out and don't get hit. To me that would make him the smartest fighter out there. His fights get better every time because he is fighting better talent. The better the talent the more exciting his fight is and I believe he will beat the best of them at 205 and Anderson Silva can't KO him if he can't even hit him. Good times and if he is ever champ expect more of his fights ending instead of going to a decision.

Shaydie...you probably blinked when he punched AND swept Sokudjou at the same time...all en route to a TKO.

Machida is phenomonal....no one wants to fight him for a reason...they'll probably lose. He's quick, technical and just damn good. Tito was close to the sub, but let it go.

As for Silva, he's got it all...great striking and a great ground game.

They both seem like nice guys, why the hate?

Why can't people just appreciate skillz?
